Leonid Mikhailovich Andreev (1900-1968)
Leonid Mikhailovich’s father served with a rich merchant, and in gratitude he
paid for his son’s education.
During the Civil War he served as a supply manager for a medical train. In
Krasnoyarsk N.Z. Shulgin,
Lita Boratynskaya
's uncle, introduced him to
Natalya Borisovna Ilyina
, the sister of Lita's husband. They got married after
returning to Kazan. Children Nikolay (1922) and Susanna (1924) were born
there. Fearing persecution, Leonid Mikhailovich took his family from Kazan,
first “to the mill” on the Volga, then to Moscow. Since 1933 they lived in
Krechetnikovsky Lane, building 2, apt. 45.
Детство провела в Петрове.
Leonid Mikhailovich's work has always been related to accounting. Before the
war, he served as chief accountant of «Glavmuka» and «Glavkhleb». During
the war he was called up to serve in the Central Office of the Ministry of
Defense, where he served until 1961.
In 1961, Khrushchev decided to reduce the army by 1 million people. Leonid
Mikhailovich then had two months left before his 20-year service term, but he
was dismissed and did not receive a military pension.
An interesting episode in his life for Leonid Mikhailovich was his participation
in the film “War and Peace”. By chance, almost on the street, film director
Sergey Bodnarchuk’s assistant noticed him and invited him to play the role of
the French ambassador. The preparation and filming itself took many months
— grandfather was taught to dance (he had to dance in the scene of Natasha
Rostova's first ball), a costume and awards were selected.
As a result, after editing, only a few seconds of grandfather’s passage
remained in the film - at the very beginning of the third episode of the film.
Leonid Mikhailovich died two months after his wife's death, unable to cope
with her passing away.
