Dimitri Kiril Ilyin (1929-2013) Born after his parents emigrated (1924) to San Francisco. He said that his  “roots are as deep as the San Andreas Fault.” He graduated from Lowell High  School, UC Berkeley and then Hastings College of Law. During the Korean War (1950-1953) he served in the landing force. Returning  to the USA, he met his future wife Donna. They got married in Washington.  Then Dmitri served in Germany and retired with the rank of lieutenant  colonel. He became a practicing attorney, had an office on Clement Street in San  Francisco. According to him, he mainly worked as an executor, sorting out the  inheritance cases of numerous old-timer men and women — emigrants. He was a member of the Bohemian Club, although, according to him, he had  no artistic talent. Perhaps he owes his membership in this club to his uncle,  the artist  Pyotr Aleksandrovich Ilyin , whose portraits adorn the halls of the  club. He was an active member of the volunteer fire brigade. At his dacha in Jordan  Park he collected a collection of old fire trucks. He was an excellent shooter and a member of the National Rifle Association.  He was an avid collector of antique rifles and muskets. When the opportunity arose to go to Russia, he said, he did not feel much  desire to do so.
