Elan
The village of Elan was founded during the period of the Kazan Khanate. Also
known as Pokrovskoye, currently the village of Bolshaya Elan. Located 40
kilometers east of Kazan, next to the Ilyins’ estates
Arkatovo
and
Petrovo
. At
the beginning of the 20th century in Elani there were: the Intercession Church
(built in 1735), a zemstvo school (opened in 1884), water and 2 windmills,
3 forges, a store, 3 small shops. The land allotment of the rural community
amounted to 881 acres.
Tatyana Petrovna left her entire fortune, part of Tagasheva, Elan and a house
in Kazan, according to her spiritual will, to one of her nieces
Elena Libert
—
the daughter of her sister Ekaterina Petrovna.
