Caymary
Known from 1565–1567 as Wasteland of Malye Caymary. Located 30
kilometers north of Kazan. The Caymary was owned by the Kazan governor
Nikita Alferovich Kudryavtsev, then by his son, vice-governor of Kazan
Methodius (Nefed) Nikitich Kudryavtsev.

The Ilyins are connected with the Caimary through the
great-granddaughter of Evgeniy Abramovich, Olga
Aleksandrovna Boratynskaya, who married Kirill Borisovich Ilyin
in 1916.
The Caymary was passed down through the female line: first, Kudryavtsev’s
daughter, Anastasia Nefedyevna, married General-in-Chief Alexey Danilovich
Tatishchev, the former orderly of Peter I. The Caymary went as a dowry to
their youngest daughter Ekaterina Alekseevna, who married Lev Nikolayevich
Engelhardt in 1799. Their eldest daughter Anastasia Lvovna also received
Caymary as a dowry when she married
Evgeniy Abramovich Boratynsky
.
Part of the land and several peasant souls were also received by the youngest
daughter of the Engelhardts, Sofya Lvovna, who married Nikolay Vasilyevich
Putyata.
The Boratynsky couple visited Kaymary twice — they lived for several months
in 1831–1832; in 1833 they came for several weeks at the end of summer —
beginning of autumn.
The Boratynsky house in Caymary was built according to the plans of the
architect Rastrelli. It was a stone two-story building and had 40 rooms. Around
the house there was a large orchard with artificial ponds.
After the death of N.E. Boratynsky Caymary was inherited by the poet's son
Nikolay Evgenievich, married to Olga Aleksandrovna Kazem-Bek, and
daughter Zinaida Evgenievna, married to Nikolay Ivanovich Gerken.
In 1861, after the abolition of serfdom, N.E. Boratynsky and his sister Z.E.
Gerken ceded approximately two-thirds of the land to the peasants.
In 1868, Nikolay Evgenievich bought another estate —
Shushary
, and the
Boratynskys left Caimary.
In 1873 Z.E. Gerken sold almost all of her land to hereditary citizen (merchant)
Olga Mikhailovna Emelyanova. In the same year, 1873, N.E. Boratynsky sold
his share to the merchant Andreyan Sergeevich Ivanov.
