Prince Sergey Borisovich Bolkhovskoy (great-grandfather of
Nadezhda
Nikolaevna Moiseeva
, wife of
Petr Aleksandrovich Ilyin
) and his brother
Vassily at the end of the 18th century built a stone house with wooden wings
on Prolomnaya Street opposite the Church of the Epiphany. “The house of the
Princes of Bolkhov, made of stone, has two floors with a mezzanine and two
one-story outbuildings with a mezzanine,” together with a plot of land,
occupied about 8300 sq.m.
After his death, the house was inherited by his daughter
Nadezhda
Sergeevna Moiseeva
,
née Princess Bolkhovskaya. When she died, her
husband
Alexey Fedorovich Moiseev
refused 1/7 of the inheritance due to
him, leaving himself several courtyard servants and this house on
Prolomnaya Street. After his death, the house went to his daughter
Varvara
Alekseevna Lobachevskaya (Moiseeva)
— the granddaughter of Prince
Sergey Borisovich, the wife of Nikolay Ivanovich Lobachevsky. The
Lobachevskys moved to this house when they were evicted from the rector’s
apartment at the university.
Subsequently, the house changed hands several times, at one time it housed
the Second Men's Gymnasium. Then the house went to the merchant A. Frolov,
he rebuilt it and made shops on the ground floor. After him, other merchants
owned the house, until finally it was purchased for demolition in 1908 by the
State Bank of Russia.
The National Bank for the Republic of Tatarstan is now located on the site of
this house (Bauman St., 37). The new house was built in 1914-1915 according
to the design of the architect A. Sapunov.
